"God would be unloving if He left us in our sinful state without pain. Pain confirms our need for outside assistance without which we could never be saved."

 Our Defining Docs

Born and raised in the St. Louis area, Pastor Scott and his wife Christy came to the Seckman Valley area in Imperial, Missouri in August of 2003.  After much prayer and work it was decided that the former church, Seckman Road Baptist, should close and was reconstituted as Valley View Baptist Church in March of 2004.  In an attempt to be established as a traditionally conservative church governed by biblical principles, Valley View has been able to remain culturally relevant in worship appealing to a wide range of individuals.  With a unique blend of people from many denominational backgrounds, and with a congregation that spans across all age groups, Pastor Scott has led Valley View to be a united church body without groups that appeal to the splintered society in which we live.  Valley View does not have singles groups, older adult groups, or even small groups, which tend to make church feel like a social organization appealing to special interests rather than a unified body of believers.  Old and young alike fellowship together providing an atmosphere of learning that enables the wisdom of years to guide and direct the younger members who need the encouragement of those who have already lived through many problems and difficulties, a principle set forth by the Apostle Paul.

Pastor Scott is a graduate of Hannibal LaGrange College where he received a Bachelors degree with a major in Bible, and also a graduate of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina where he received a Masters of Divinity degree specializing in Biblical Languages.  Scott and Christy have three children: Amy 21; Jeremy 18; and April who is 15.
